PicToGIF Privacy Policy
PicToGIF is a macOS app that converts images into GIFs entirely on your device. We do not collect, store, or transmit personal data to our servers, because the app does not operate a backend.
1. Information we process
- User-provided images and the resulting GIFs stay on your device and are processed in memory.
- The app does not create user accounts, track identity, or enable logins.
- No analytics, advertising SDKs, or third-party tracking tools are integrated.
2. How your files are handled
- Images you open (via drag-and-drop or the file picker) are used only to generate previews and GIF exports during your session.
- Exports are saved solely to the location you choose; no automatic uploads occur.
- The app does not retain copies of your files after you close it, apart from the exported GIFs you choose to keep.
3. Permissions
- File access is limited to the items you explicitly select or drop into the app.
- The app does not request camera, microphone, contacts, location, or other device permissions.
4. Third-party services
- No third-party services receive your data.
- The app relies only on Apple system frameworks (such as SwiftUI, AppKit, and ImageIO) for on-device processing.
5. Data sharing and sale
We do not share, sell, or rent your information.
6. Security
Because processing is local, your files remain under the protections provided by macOS and your own storage locations.
7. Children
The app is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from children.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be communicated via app release notes or the project page.
